Living Well with Bri
Right now is all we have
Time is a Weird Thing
Time is such a strange concept, isn’t it? We plan for a future that isn’t guaranteed, hoping and striving for what might come, while the present moment quietly slips through our fingers. This thought might seem heavy at first, but it carries a truth we often overlook: all we really have is right now.
Lately, I’ve found myself caught in the endless web of planning. What will I do with my life? What career path should I pursue? What does the next five, ten, or even twenty years hold for me? These questions feel so pressing that they can consume me entirely. They tug at my focus, pulling me away from the beauty of what’s happening now.
And here’s the thing—planning for the future isn’t unimportant. But when we become so obsessed with it, we risk missing out on what matters most: the present. Our dreams for tomorrow are only built on the choices and actions we take today. The truth is, the future is never certain, and no amount of planning can change that. The only certainty we have is this moment—the one we’re living in right now.
In chasing distant goals, I’ve realized how easy it is to neglect the simple, irreplaceable moments of today. The quiet mornings. The laughter with friends. The small victories that often go unnoticed. These are the moments that make life meaningful—not the ones we dream about, but the ones we live.
The irony is, the future we’re so obsessed with shaping is built from the choices we make in the present. Every mindful action, every intentional step, every moment we fully embrace helps create the life we’re striving for. Yet, if we’re too focused on what’s ahead, we miss the beauty of how we’re getting there.
So, I’m trying something new: pausing. Taking a deep breath and reminding myself that right here, right now, is enough. The future can wait because today, in all its imperfect glory, deserves my attention.
I encourage you to try it too. Look around, take in the present moment, and let it ground you. Time may be a weird thing, but it’s also a gift—a gift we’re meant to savor, not just plan for.
Let’s live for today:)
With love and gratitude,
Bri
