Breaking the habit of being yourself, Cryotherapy, & Saunas

Quote of the day:

“If you want a new outcome, you will have to break the habit of being yourself, and reinvent a new self.”

- Joe Dispenza

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting a different outcome. We have all been guilty of this at some point in our lives. It’s easy to convince ourselves that our plan is completely right. However, this is not always the case. We may be doing something not in alignment with our individual needs. So, how do we escape this loop? I escape old and unrewarding habits by implementing some of the tools below→

  • 5-second rule by Mel Robbins

    • When your mind resists a promise you made yourself, count back from 5, and when you get to 1, immediately get up and take action. If you constantly think, you will never take action. Our brain is wired for comfort and protection. Most of the actions we resist make us uncomfortable, like running. We will never achieve our goals if we constantly live in our comfort zones.

  • Plan tomorrow the night before

    • Planning your tomorrow tonight helps the brain visualize the next day better. When your brain visualizes the steps needed to be taken, it gives your mind the impression that it has already happened. This breaks that “newness” barrier that usually prevents people from starting something new.

  • Assess your life right now

    • Write down your short- and long-term goals. How are your daily actions building the habits needed to achieve them? Life is about balance, so implementing a structure like the 80/20 Pareto principle is important.

Hormetic Stressors

A hormetic stressor is a type of environmental or physiological stress that, in moderate amounts, can be beneficial for an organism's overall health and resilience. Hormetic stressors trigger adaptive responses within the body, leading to improved functioning and increased resistance to future stress.

Exercise and caloric restriction are both hormetic stressors that are easy to implement. Some others include heat and cold exposures. Some types of cold exposures include cryotherapy, ice baths, and cold showers. Saunas are the main source of heat exposure.

Goal for the day :)

Make sometime smile! We never know what people are battling behind closed doors, so make it your mission today to make someone smile. Give them a compliment, text someone you haven’t talked to in a while, or call your mom. Five minutes is all you need to make someone’s day.

Next time…

  • How to get out of a rut

  • Movie recommendation

Have a great day, friends. Talk to you soon!
