Wear Your Sunscreen

Sunscreen
Sunscreen is essential to include in your daily skincare routine. It protects your skin from dangerous UV rays that lead to premature aging, wrinkles, and skin cancer.
Protection from UV Radiation: Sunscreen places a barrier between your skin and the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV radiation can cause sunburn, premature aging, and skin damage. Prolonged exposure to UV radiation without sunscreen increases the risk of skin cancer.
Skin Cancer Prevention: Using sunscreen regularly can significantly reduce the risk of developing skin cancer. Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, and UV radiation is a significant risk factor for its development. Sunscreen helps to block or absorb UV rays, reducing the potential damage to skin cells and DNA.
Prevention of Premature Aging: UV radiation can lead to premature skin aging, causing issues like wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and a loss of skin elasticity. Sunscreen helps protect the skin from these effects, keeping it looking more youthful and healthy.
Minimization of Sunburn: Sunburn can be painful and unsightly. Sunscreen helps prevent sunburn by reducing the skin's exposure to UVB rays, which are responsible for causing sunburn.
Protection from UV-Related Skin Conditions: Besides skin cancer and sunburn, too much sun exposure can lead to certain skin conditions, such as rosacea and melasma. Sunscreen can help manage these conditions.
What type of sunscreen should you use?
The two types of sunscreen are mineral and chemical. The main difference between these two are the ingredients within them. Mineral sunscreens contain zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide, natural minerals that act as physical blockers. In contrast, chemical sunscreens contain oxybenzone, avobenzone, and octocrylene. I prefer mineral sunscreen because my skin is sensitive to the chemical ingredients. Also, the toxicity of the chemical elements hasn’t been thoroughly tested for the long-term effects of using them.
