The power of hugs and grocery shopping tips

Happy Thursday!
Hugging each other more is essential because of the importance of human connection and its positive impact on our well-being. Here are some reasons why we should embrace the act of hugging:

Emotional Connection: Hugging fosters a deep emotional bond between individuals. It releases oxytocin, also known as the "love hormone." This promotes feelings of trust, comfort, and happiness.
Reducing Stress and Anxiety: Physical touch, like hugging, has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety by lowering cortisol levels and promoting relaxation.
Boosting Mood: When you hug someone, endorphins, the "feel-good" hormones, are released. Endorphins can help lift our spirits and improve our overall mood, the same chemicals released when working out.
Improving Immune System: Studies show that hugging and physical touch can positively impact our immune system.
Human connection is crucial in preserving our emotional and physical well-being. While hugging is one way to strengthen this bond, numerous other effective methods exist. Regular phone calls, taking walks together, or sharing meals with friends and family all contribute to enhancing our emotional connections. Nurturing these relationships is essential to prevent feelings of disconnection and isolation, ensuring that we maintain meaningful and fulfilling connections with our loved ones. By actively engaging in these activities, we can foster a sense of closeness and support, contributing to our overall happiness and health.
How to effectively shop at a grocery store-
Make a Shopping List: Plan your meals for the week and create a detailed shopping list to avoid impulse buys and ensure you get all
the necessary items. I get inspiration about what to cook from YouTube, Pinterest, and TikTok. Also, I make food that I can double or triple the serving size to have leftovers and save time prepping meals in the future (a habit stack, if you will).
Choose Seasonal Produce: Opt for seasonal produce, which is
often more nutritious and cost-effective.
Read Labels: Check the nutrition labels and ingredients list to make
informed choices. Make sure you are trying to buy as many whole foods as possible and if there is a label, ensure there are no seed oils or hidden sugars. The fewer the ingredients, the better!
Shop the Perimeter: Most fresh and healthy items like fruits,
vegetables, lean proteins, and dairy are typically found around the
the perimeter of the store.
Buy in Bulk: Consider purchasing non-perishable items like nuts,
seeds, and whole grains in bulk to save money. Costco and Sam’s Club will be your best friends! I try to buy many of my proteins from there and freeze them when I get home. Your grocery bill will be more expensive, but the quantity of food you get will last you for much longer.
Avoid Shopping on an Empty Stomach: Shopping when hungry can
lead to impulsive and less healthy food choices.
Use Reusable Bags: Bring reusable shopping bags to reduce plastic
waste and be environmentally friendly.
Journal prompt of the day -
List 10 things you love about yourself. This might feel strange initially, especially if you don’t like compliments. However, it is very important to show ourselves, love. Self-love is similar to confidence - fake it til you make it. If you keep reaffirming that you love yourself, over time, you will. However, self-love will be hard to achieve if you keep allowing self-limiting thoughts to control your mind. Start implementing this prompt into your daily routine, and each time come up with 10 completely new things you love about yourself.
